Hey friends, I’m here with my very late update from Nicaragua. I’m sure you are confused, thinking I left Nicaragua a long time ago, I sure did. But I honestly loved it so much that I can’t skip sharing with you all. I will have a few posts coming out close to one another, because a lot has happened sense leaving Nicaragua!

Nicaragua felt very much like home to me, and I think its because it wasn’t an overly extravagant month. We tend to think of a mission trip as healings & wonders every moments. But the truth is, its still just life… I deeply loved stepping into the mundane of paining walls, & it was beautiful to see the Holy Spirit meet me there. I have so many takeaways from these oddly routine days, but I am just going to give you a few brief highlights. If you want more, we will have to get a cup of coffee when I get back.. lets be real, that’s never a bad idea anyways! So here are just a few highlights from all that I learned this month!

  • Intentionality is a choice that can be made anywhere, but it has to be chosen into.

  • The Holy Spirit is a person to be known, not just a power to be felt.

  •  The locals use gasoline for everything… and I mean everything. (It really only does so much, but don’t tell them I said that.)

  • Home is not a building, but instead the people you choose to invest in.

  • Oil paint is no joke & the brushes you use in that process are toast, don’t waste you time cleaning them.

  • You have to focus on the trees of life around you, not the walls that seem to overtake you.

  • Love knows every language & really isn’t ashamed to invest it all.

  • Pulling weeds & painting walls is basically therapy, just in case anyone was wondering…

  • The Lord truly is a GOOD SHEPHERD! As we know Him in a deeper way & begin to trust Him, all of our lack falls away. Sit & listen.

  • We were created to be loved & so much beauty flows out when we step into that reality.

  •  I honestly just had no clue bugs could get so big, or be so unkind.

  • Burnout is real & Sabbath is a commandment for a reason.

  • The biggest lessons are learned in the mundane. It’s worth taking the time to press into the Holy Spirit in these moments, because He really is just waiting to speak with us!

There you have it friends, a few life lessons from Nicaragua! Wow, I miss my new friends, but I’m so glad I got to spend a month learning & growing alongside of them!

Love & miss y’all so much,

                                      KEN
