Dear team rooted, you haven’t yet been introduced to the world, yet our time together is coming to an close. These past five months have been filled to the brim with memories and adventures!
Our journey together started this December, in South Africa. Here we all sat around the room contemplating a name. We landed on “Rooted”, not knowing that being deeply rooted in Christ’s love, and the love of a community was something we all deeply needed to learn.
From here we moved on to Lesotho, where we learned how to rely on one another in such a stunning way. From the nights of endless laughter, the days without running water, and the walks back and forth to ministry, here we became a team.
Our next stop was ESwatini, this is where we learned how to support one another well in the midst of distraction. Though we didn’t spend much time together this month, we learned how to be the encouragement & support that each one needed. This is where we truly learned to celebrate one another and rejoice in both the large and small victories.
Now, our final months together have been spent here in Rwanda. As we entered Rwanda, none of us knew this would be our last country together. Here we’ve learned how to press in and push one another to go deeper. We’ve resisted the temptation to just be comfortable, and actually chose to encourage one another forward.
As we got the news that we only had a few more weeks as team rooted, I began to feel all of the things. The first was so much sadness looking back at all of the growth we have walked through together.
Quickly after I was filled with so much gratitude. Thank you so much for being a group of ladies ready to serve with all you have, giving of yourselves, your time, and your heart. Thank you for allowing me to walk alongside of you in these past five months, showing me different characteristics of the Father. Thank you for the times we rubbed up against each other, refining me and pushing me closer to Abba’s goodness.
Team rooted, thank you so much for making the middle of the race so special. Though it’s sad to say farewell for now, I can’t wait to see the growth these last few months on the field bring us!
Much love,
Ken
